  • Jerry Ann Hall spent her childhood in Buchanan and Tazewell Counties in Virginia, where she began making dolls as a very small child. She was given one doll at Christmas which needed to last until the following Christmas. Because she was such a lover of dolls, the doll soon wore out. So, it became necessary to make them. When Jerry Ann’s daughter, Mary, entered college, she began making dolls for shops and craft shows as a means for meeting college expenses. Over the past thirty years of doll-making, Jerry Ann has developed her own patterns and designs. One of her favorites is the mouse because it is so much fun painting the face and watching the expressions emerge. Currently Jerry Ann resides in Fancy Gap with her husband, both of whom have retired.
