Ken Burns enjoyed wood shop class in high school.  When he learned Chestnut Creek School of the Arts had an open studio wood working shop, he joined to see what he could make.  He is currently making pen and pencil holders.

Pat DeBlasio was born in Elk Creek, Virginia.  After marriage, she and her husband relocated to the Hampton Roads area.  In 1979, they moved to Chesterfield County, Virginia, where she still resides.  Her sisters, Charlotte Pollard and Lola Bryant live in Galax, Virginia.
