Free donations accepted
Wytheville Community College is sponsoring its Bluegrass and Old-Time Jamboree, this time featuring an extended performance from The Whitetop Mountain Band on Saturday, March 30, from 7-9 p.m. This month’s Jamboree has been moved from its previously scheduled date to allow for the construction of the stage set for WCC Theatre’s Spring Production.
The Jamboree will be held in the William F. Snyder Auditorium in Grayson Hall on the WCC campus located at 1000 E. Main Street in Wytheville.
The Whitetop Mountain Band is a family-based band from the highest mountains of Virginia. Whitetop is an area rich in the old-time music tradition; this band has deep roots in mountain music that will get you on your feet dancing. The band includes Emily Spencer on banjo, guitar, and vocals; Martha Spencer on guitar, fiddle, banjo, and vocals; Kilby Spencer on fiddle; Ersel Fletcher on guitar and vocals; and Debbie Bramer on bass, vocals, and dance.
Doors to the Snyder Auditorium will be open beginning at 6 p.m., with music beginning at 7 p.m. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. The event is free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted to help defray the travel expenses of the bands.
