Mid-Day Mountain Music – Ron Ireland
July 27 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Ron Ireland is a folk singer and songwriter based in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. His style is a mix of traditional country, folk, blues, and gospel. He was a shy and lonely kid until he found an old Silvertone guitar with three strings and taught himself to play. Ron’s voice is a gentle, time-worn instrument and he plays finger-style guitar with a wide musical range. Ron says his songs feature “a touch of country, a little blues, a pinch of rockabilly, and some old fashioned finger picking folk songs.” Come on by and and enjoy the music! (Member of BMI and The Appalachian Association of Professional Musicians AFM Local 136).
The sounds of the fiddle, banjo, and guitar are likely to welcome you when you visit the Blue Ridge Music Center open late May-October.
When you visit, you can experience regional traditional music each day of the week with Mid-Day Mountain Musicians on the breezeway of the visitors center where The Roots of American Music Museum—an entertaining exhibition highlighting the historical significance of the region’s music—is also located.
