Local Artisan Madeleine Choquette @ Farmers Market
August 24, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Local artisan Madeleine Choquette will be in the Community Demonstration space located in the SW Virginia’s Farmers Market. Take this opportunity to talk with the artist and peruse her knit, sewn and handcrafted items. You may want to take pieces home with you. If you can’t make it this weekend, her work is always available at the Blue Ridge Plateau Regional Visitors Center.
Here is Ms. Madeleine’s bio:
I reside in Woodlawn, Virginia, with my husband, Ron, having relocated from Vermont about twelve years ago. We have three children, and eight grandchildren. I worked as a RN for forty-two years and am now retired. I have been knitting since I was ten, helping my mom knit mittens for my siblings. As I am self-taught, I have begun knitting more advanced items. My latest accomplishment is teaching a knitting class at Chestnut Creek School of the Arts on how to knit two socks at once. In addition to knitting, I have a small business (Maddy Sews) doing alterations, quilting, and machine embroidery. Teaching these skills is very rewarding and gives me great pleasure. I can be reached at 276/238-9059.
