Bill and the Belles + Dori Freeman
June 2, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
1010
From sentimental Southern ballads to the popular songs of Tin Pan Alley to regional fiddle breakdowns, a Bill and the Belles show is a celebration of the diversity country music once represented. The group continues to further the musical traditions of their region, with striking three-part harmonies, masterful instrumentation, uplifting humor, high spirits and all-around revelry.
A Galax native, Dori Freeman’s family tree includes her father, Scott Freeman, and grandfather, Willard Grayheart, beloved veteran bluegrass musicians. As a singer and songwriter, her music blurs the finer lines of Americana and shines new lights on the legacy of traditional music. She brings a modern and honest perspective – both lyrically and vocally – to the genre.
The Roots of American Music concert series is held in the outdoor amphitheater. Gates open at 5:45 p.m. Please bring chairs and blankets. Picnics are welcome, but no alcohol. Galax Smokehouse will be on hand serving barbecue, sides and desserts.
